Despite an unremarkable career as a pitcher - he posted a 51-56 record and 4.53 ERA - Searage found his true calling after he retired from playing in 1992. He began coaching in the minors for the Montreal Expos and, in 2008, was hired as the pitching coach for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Searage quickly proved to be one of the most innovative and effective pitching coaches in the game, helping transform struggling starters into effective starters and turning mediocre relievers into dominant late-inning weapons. The Pirates' pitching staff under Searage's guidance led the National League in ERA in 2013 and 2015, and advanced to the postseason in both years. Searage's reputation across baseball is that of a guru who has an innate ability to refine and tune pitching mechanics. In total, we tracked 91 items since 01/01/2008.
