Razor Shines was a former professional baseball player who became famous in the 1980s and 1990s for his excellent skills on the field as a first baseman and outfielder. In 1978, Shines was drafted by the Montreal Expos in the third round, starting what would be a long and successful career in baseball. He made his major league debut in August 1983 and played for the Expos for two years, after which he was traded to the Cincinnati Reds. He also played for the New York Mets and the Chicago White Sox before retiring as a player in 1992.

After his retirement, Shines became a coach, starting as a coach in the White Sox farm system before ultimately joining the coaching staff of the New York Mets. In addition to coaching, Shines also managed several teams, including the Newark Bears of the Atlantic League, among others.
