In 1938, Red Borom was signed by the Washington Senators, and he made his Major League debut on April 25, 1940. He played three seasons for the Senators, and in 1942, he was traded to the Cleveland Indians. Borom’s career flourished with the Indians, and he became a reliable starter for the team. In the 1945 World Series against the Detroit Tigers, Borom pitched a complete game shutout in Game 4, leading the Indians to win the game.

Red Borom retired from baseball in 1951, having played for the Washington Senators, Cleveland Indians, and Boston Red Sox during his professional career. He finished his career with a record of 54-58, a 3.98 ERA, and 315 strikeouts. After his retirement from baseball, Borom worked as an electrical supply company executive and passed away on July 28, 1996, in Bradenton, Florida.
