Red Faber Autograph

Red Faber born on September 6, 1888, in Cascade, Iowa was an American professional baseball player. He played in Major League Baseball as a right-handed pitcher for the Chicago White Sox for the entirety of his career from 1914 to 1933. He was one of the team's consistent pitchers during the team's successful years in the 1910s and 1920s. Faber is considered one of the greatest pitchers in White Sox history and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1964. More about Red Faber

Faber played a significant role in the White Sox World Series championship in 1917, where he won 2 games, all while clocking 1.00 ERA. He had a six-game had World Series record of 3-1 with a 2.37 ERA, and a no-hitter game on August 21, 1914. Faber was adept at controlling the ball, and his fielding skills were so good that he managed to pick 107 runners over his career, including 61 pickoffs at first, a record that still stands to date.

Faber retired in 1933 with a 254-213 record, 199 complete games, a 3.15 ERA, and 1,735 strikeouts. He remained active in baseball working as a White Sox coach until 1950. Faber was a respected figure known for his sportsmanship, intelligence, and professionalism both on and off the field. Greatness, poise, and a dedication to his craft are just some of the words used to describe Red Faber, whose career impacted the game of baseball and gave the Chicago White Sox a distinctive name in baseball's history.
