Red Wilson was a professional baseball player who played mostly as a catcher in the MLB from 1946 to 1956. Wilson was born on July 31, 1929, in Belfast, Northern Ireland; he later moved with his family to Canada when he was six years old. Wilson was discovered by a scout when he was playing for a local club in Toronto, and he signed with the Detroit Tigers in 1946 at the age of 16.
