Renato Núñez is a professional baseball player from Venezuela who is currently playing for the Detroit Tigers in Major League Baseball (MLB). He was born on April 4, 1994, in Valencia, Venezuela. Núñez started playing baseball as a kid and was scouted by several MLB teams as a teenager.
Núñez made his MLB debut on September 12, 2016, with the Oakland Athletics, the team that signed him as an international free agent in 2010. He played with the Athletics for three seasons, from 2016 to 2019, and was known for his power hitting and defensive skills. Núñez had his best season with the Athletics in 2019 when he hit 31 home runs and had 90 RBIs in 151 games played.
After being waived by the Athletics in 2020, Núñez was picked up by the Baltimore Orioles, where he played for most of the season. He continued to showcase his power hitting, hitting 12 home runs in 52 games played. In March 2021, Núñez signed a minor league contract with the Tigers and was promoted to the major league roster in May.
