Reno Bertoia Autographs

Reno BertoiaReno Bertoia was a professional baseball player born on December 8, 1935, in Italy. He moved with his family to Canada when he was seven years old and grew up in Windsor, Ontario. Bertoia began his baseball career in 1953 when he signed with the Detroit Tigers. He started his minor league baseball journey in the Georgia-Florida League and the Northwest League. In 1956, he made his major league debut with the Tigers and played with the team through the 1961 season.
During his baseball career, Bertoia played different positions including second base, third base, outfield, and shortstop. In 1959, he had one of his best seasons, hitting .303 with 6 home runs and 43 RBI. Bertoia was known for his defense and agility in the field, often making spectacular plays. One of his most memorable plays was in 1960 when he made a diving catch to help his team win a crucial game against the Baltimore Orioles.
Bertoia had a 10-year career in the Major Leagues, playing with the Detroit Tigers, Washington Senators, and Kansas City Athletics. In total, he played in 730 games, had 575 hits, and a lifetime batting average of .244. Bertoia retired from baseball in 1964 and worked for Chrysler Canada for 13 years. He was later inducted into the Windsor-Essex County Sports Hall of Fame in 1981 in recognition of his outstanding baseball career. Bertoia passed away at the age of 76 on February 12, 2012.
