Rich Gedman is a former American professional baseball player and coach from Worcester, Massachusetts. He was born on September 26, 1959. Gedman is known for his tenure as a catcher with the Boston Red Sox, where he spent ten seasons from 1980 to 1990. He was a two-time All-Star and helped lead the Red Sox to the World Series in 1986. Gedman was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the third round of the 1977 MLB draft. After a few years in the minor leagues, he made his Major League debut with the Red Sox in 1980. Gedman quickly established himself as a solid catcher with a great arm, and in 1985 he had his best season, hitting .295 with 24 home runs and 81 RBIs. He also won a Silver Slugger award for his offensive prowess that year. Gedman continued to be a reliable contributor for the Red Sox throughout the 1980s, but his career declined in the early 1990s and he retired as a player in 1992.In total, we tracked 588 items since 01/01/2008.
