Rick Aguilera Autographs
Rick Aguilera is a former Major League Baseball (MLB) pitcher who played from 1985 to 2000. He was drafted by the New York Mets in the third round of the 1983 MLB draft and made his debut in the majors on May 1, 1985. Aguilera was primarily a relief pitcher, but also started games occasionally during his career. He was known for his split-finger fastball, which helped him to record 318 saves, the 15th highest in MLB history.
Aguilera played for several teams during his career including the Mets, Minnesota Twins, Boston Red Sox, and Chicago Cubs. He had his most success with the Twins, where he won a World Series championship in 1991 and recorded a career-high 42 saves in 1992. He was also named an All-Star three times in his career, in 1991, 1992, and 1993. Aguilera retired after the 2000 season with a career ERA of 3.57 and a record of 86-81.
After his playing career, Aguilera served as a pitching coach for several minor league teams and was also a coach for the Minnesota Twins for a brief period in 2017. He was inducted into the Minnesota Twins Hall of Fame in 2019. Aguilera is also involved in several charitable organizations, including the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the University of Northern Iowa baseball program, where he played collegiately. He is recognized as one of the most successful relief pitchers in MLB history and an important part of the Minnesota Twins' championship team in 1991.
