Rico Brogna is a former Major League Baseball player who was born on April 18, 1970, in Turners Falls, Massachusetts. He spent 11 seasons in the MLB, primarily as a first baseman. Brogna played college baseball at Watertown’s Kings Academy, where he was a standout player. He was eventually drafted in the first round of the 1988 amateur draft by the Detroit Tigers. Brogna made his MLB debut in 1992 with the Tigers and spent his first three seasons with the team. He's known for his excellent defensive play and his consistent ability to hit for power. Brogna enjoyed his most successful season in 1998, playing for the Philadelphia Phillies. He finished the season with an impressive .312 batting average, 24 home runs, and 102 runs batted in.
