Rob Dibble Autographs
Rob Dibble is an American former Major League Baseball pitcher best known for his blazing fastball and his role as a Reliever for the Cincinnati Reds' "Nasty Boys" club of the early 1990s. Dibble was born on October 24, 1964, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and attended high school in Southington, where he was an outstanding baseball and football player. He went on to attend the University of Florida, where he played baseball under the legendary coach Jack Rhine and was a member of the 1984 U.S. Olympic team.
Dibble was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds as the first round, the 20th overall pick in the June 1983 amateur draft. After two seasons in the Reds' farm system, he made his major league debut in 1988 and quickly established himself as one of the most dominant relief pitchers in the game. Dibble's high-90s fastball and frequently controversial demeanor made him a fan favorite in Cincinnati, and he played an integral role in the Reds' surprise world championship run in 1990. He went 8-3 with a 1.74 ERA and 11 saves that season, and was named to the National League All-Star team in both 1990 and 1991. Dibble's career was cut short by injuries, and he retired from baseball in 1995 with a record of 27-25, 89 saves, and an ERA of 2.98.
Dibble has since worked as a broadcaster, pundit, and analyst for various sports networks, including ESPN and Fox. Despite his colorful personality and on-field antics, Dibble remains one of the most respected and knowledgeable voices in the game of baseball. His legacy as a hard-throwing, fearsome reliever has endured, and he continues to be remembered as one of the most dynamic and impactful players of his era.
