Roberto Pérez, born on December 23, 1988, is a professional baseball catcher who currently plays for the Cleveland Indians in Major League Baseball (MLB). Pérez was born and raised in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, where he attended and played baseball for Florida Gateway College. Pérez made his MLB debut on July 11, 2014, and quickly became recognized for his defensive skills as a catcher. Despite struggling in his first season hitting-wise, Pérez impressed with his ability to throw out base runners and call games behind the plate. However, in 2015 season, he improved his batting and even hit a game-winning home run in the American League Championship Series, solidifying him as an important player for the Indians.
