Rod Hundley was an American professional basketball player who played for the Los Angeles Lakers and the Minneapolis Lakers. Born on October 26, 1934, in Charleston, West Virginia, Hundley attended West Virginia University where he was a standout basketball star. In 1957, Hundley was drafted by the Cincinnati Royals in the first round of the NBA draft. However, he was immediately traded to the Minneapolis Lakers where he played for two seasons. Hundley then played for the Los Angeles Lakers for four seasons, where he was known for his ball-handling skills and flashy play. Hundley retired from basketball in 1963, after a seven-year career in the NBA. Following his retirement, Hundley took up basketball commentary, becoming a beloved announcer for the Utah Jazz for 35 years.
