Ron Brand Autograph
Ron Brand is an American former professional baseball player, born on June 13, 1948, in Los Angeles, California. He was a catcher who began his career in the Major League Baseball (MLB) with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1968. Brand played for eight years in the MLB and had stints with the Pirates, Montreal Expos, Philadelphia Phillies, and St. Louis Cardinals. He is known for his outstanding defensive abilities as a catcher, and for being an excellent handler of pitchers. Brand played in 437 games over eight seasons and had a career batting average of .238, with 12 home runs and 99 RBIs. He retired from the MLB after the 1977 season. More about Ron Brand

After retiring from playing baseball, Ron Brand pursued coaching and scouting opportunities as well as becoming a sports agent. After retiring from baseball, he stayed in contact with the Phillies organization and worked for multiple sports agencies throughout his career. He has also taken part in coaching and training camps and is credited with scouting for the major leagues in the early 2000s. Ron Brand is considered one of the great catchers to come out of California and had solid career in the MLB that spanned several teams and was continually praised for his outstanding defensive abilities.
