Ron Necciai was a former professional baseball pitcher who was born on June 18, 1932, in Gallatin, Pennsylvania. Necciai returned to college in the early 1950s to study physical education, where he was scouted by a Pittsburgh Pirates scout who signed him to pitch for the Bristol Twins in the Appalachian League in 1952. During his first season with the Bristol Twins, Ron Necciai put on an incredible preformance. On May 13, 1952, he struck out 27 Asheville Tourists batters in a single game, pitching a no-hitter to boot. This was an incredible feat that earned him a spot in the record books. He ended the season with a 9-0 record and an astounding 1.95 ERA, earning him a promotion to the Class A New Orleans Pelicans in 1953.
