Ron Northey Autographs
Ron Northey was an American professional baseball player who was born on November 26, 1920, in Mahanoy, Pennsylvania. Northey played in the Major League Baseball as an outfielder for 9 years, from 1942 to 1950. He was renowned for his powerful arm and winning personality, which made him a fan favorite. Northey began his baseball career with the Philadelphia Phillies in 1942, where he played a handful of games before serving in World War II.
After the war, Northey resumed his baseball career with the Phillies in 1946, and in 1947, he had a breakthrough season, setting career-highs in all offensive categories, batting .303 with 22 home runs and 95 RBI. He also led the league with 20 outfield assists, making him one of the premier outfielders in the National League. However, Northey’s time with the Phillies came to an end in 1948, when he was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals.
Northey continued to showcase his talent with the Cardinals, becoming a key player in their 1949 National League pennant-winning team. He finished the season with a .302 batting average and contributed 13 home runs and 68 RBI. Despite his strong performances, Northey was traded to the Cincinnati Reds in 1950, where he played his last season before retiring at the age of 29. Ron Northey passed away on March 16, 1971, in Santa Ana, California, at the age of 50, leaving behind a legacy as a talented outfielder and dedicated teammate.
