Rube Walberg Autographs

Rube Walberg was a professional baseball player who played for the Philadelphia Athletics and the Boston Red Sox during the 1920s and 1930s. Walberg was born on July 27, 1896, in Pine City, Minnesota. Growing up in Minnesota, Walberg began playing baseball at a young age and continued to hone his skills throughout high school. After high school, he began playing for local teams until he was signed by the Minneapolis Millers, a minor league team.
In 1923, Walberg was signed by the Philadelphia Athletics, where he would play for the next ten years. During his time with the Athletics, Walberg was a key player on a team that won three American League pennants and two World Series championships. Walberg's best year was in 1929 when he led the league in innings pitched and strikeouts while sporting an impressive ERA of 2.47. In 1933, Walberg was traded to the Boston Red Sox, where he would play for another two years before retiring from baseball in 1937.
Throughout his career, Walberg earned a reputation as a reliable and consistent pitcher. He was known for his devastating curveball, which earned him the nickname "Curly". Despite a relatively short career, Walberg left his mark on baseball history, finishing his career with 155 wins and 141 losses and a career ERA of 4.24. Walberg was inducted into the Minnesota State High School Baseball Hall of Fame in 1981 and the Pine City, Minnesota Hall of Fame in 1993.
