Snyder made his Major League debut with the Pirates in 1959, playing in 29 games that season. He spent two more seasons in Pittsburgh before being traded to the Baltimore Orioles in 1961. It was with the Orioles that Snyder had the most success in his career. He was a key member of the team's outfield and played with them until 1967. In 1964, Snyder helped lead the Orioles to their first American League pennant and a trip to the World Series. He finished that season with a .304 batting average, 15 home runs, and 71 RBIs.

After his time with the Orioles, Snyder played for the Kansas City Royals and the Chicago Cubs before retiring in 1970. Over the course of his 12-year career, he compiled a .271 batting average, 1,418 hits, and 614 RBIs. Snyder was known for his speed on the basepaths and his strong defense in the outfield. He was a two-time All-Star, in 1963 and 1964, and won a Gold Glove Award in 1965 for his fielding abilities. Read even more about Russ Snyder at Wikipedia
