Russ Snyder is a former American Major League Baseball player. Born in 1934 in Oak Lawn, Illinois, Snyder grew up playing baseball and other sports. He was a standout athlete in high school and eventually signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates as an amateur free agent in 1952. More about Russ Snyder

Snyder made his Major League debut with the Pirates in 1959, playing in 29 games that season. He spent two more seasons in Pittsburgh before being traded to the Baltimore Orioles in 1961. It was with the Orioles that Snyder had the most success in his career. He was a key member of the team's outfield and played with them until 1967. In 1964, Snyder helped lead the Orioles to their first American League pennant and a trip to the World Series.
