Russ Swan Autographs

Russell "Russ" Swan was an American baseball pitcher born on September 17, 1964, in Fremont, California. He attended Fremont Christian High School, where he was named All-League as a pitcher, and then went to California State University at Fullerton. In 1986, the Kansas City Royals drafted him in the fifth round of the amateur draft, but it wasn't until 1989 that Swan made his Major League debut with the Seattle Mariners.
Swan pitched for the Mariners for five seasons, from 1989 to 1993, primarily as a relief pitcher. He was known for his talent to throw a splitter, which was instrumental in his success. In 1990, he had his best season, posting an ERA of 1.86 in 67.1 innings pitched, earning him a spot on the American League All-Star team. He had a career-high of 10 saves that same year. Overall, Swan had a winning record of 17-10 and a 3.83 ERA in his 183 game major league career.
After being released by the Mariners in 1993, Swan played for the St. Louis Cardinals' organization and then played in Japan for the Hanshin Tigers. He returned to the United States in 1997 and pitched his last two seasons with the San Francisco Giants. After his baseball career ended, Swan went on to graduate from California State University, Fullerton, and became a speech therapist, ultimately retiring from the field in 2014.
