Sandy Alcantara Autographs
Sandy Alcantara is a Dominican professional baseball pitcher born on September 7, 1995. He made his Major League Baseball (MLB) debut with the Miami Marlins in 2017 after being acquired from the St. Louis Cardinals in a trade involving outfielder Marcell Ozuna. With a powerful fastball that can top 100 miles per hour, Alcantara has since then emerged as one of the brightest prospects in the Marlins organization.
Alcantara began his baseball career in the Dominican Summer League with the Cardinals organization in 2014. He steadily rose through the ranks of the minor leagues before making his MLB debut in the latter half of the 2017 season. In his first start with the Marlins against the New York Mets, Alcantara took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and finished with five innings pitched, no hits, no runs, and two walks. Throughout the 2020 shortened season, he was the Marlins' best pitcher, logging a 3.00 earned run average (ERA) and striking out 39 batters in 42 innings.
Alcantara has already established himself as a workhorse who can pitch deep into games, often logging over 100 pitches per outing. Aside from his overpowering fastball, he also throws a slider, a changeup, and a sinker, all of which he commands well. Furthermore, his velocity, combined with his size and athleticism, make him a nightmare for opposing batters. As Alcantara continues to mature and develop his secondary pitches, he remains a key building block for the Marlins' future success, and one of the most promising young talents in the league.
