Scott Cooper is a former American professional baseball player who was born on October 13, 1967, in Los Angeles, California. He played in the major leagues as a third baseman for the Boston Red Sox, St. Louis Cardinals, and Kansas City Royals between 1990 and 1997. Cooper made his major league debut with the Red Sox in 1990 and quickly established himself as a solid contributor. He hit .300 in his first full season in 1993, and he was named to the American League All-Star team in 1994. Cooper was known for his ability to hit for average, as well as his defensive skills at third base. He had a career batting average of .274 and was widely regarded as one of the best defensive third basemen of his era.

Despite his success on the field, injuries ultimately cut Cooper's career short. He retired from baseball in 1998 at the age of 30 due to a persistent back injury. Despite his relatively short career, Cooper left a lasting impact on the game, and he is remembered as one of the best third basemen of his generation.
