During his 14-year baseball career, Downs pitched for six different teams, including the Los Angeles Angels, Kansas City Royals, Atlanta Braves, and the Cleveland Indians. The former pitcher recorded 38 career saves and 609 strikeouts, and his career baseball record stands at 38-36 with a 3.81 earned run average (ERA). Downs was one of the most reliable left-handed pitchers out of the bullpen during his prime, with an arsenal that included a three-pitch mix of a fastball, a breaking ball, and a changeup.

Downs retired from baseball in 2015, after a brief stint with the Cleveland Indians. He left the game with a winning reputation as a great relief pitcher, and his career numbers are remarkable when viewed in the context of his longevity. Over the course of his stellar baseball career, Scott Downs proved himself to be one of the premier left-handed pitchers of his generation. His contributions to the game in terms of consistently reliable performances and clutch relief pitching will forever be remembered by baseball fans all over the world.
