Shane Reynolds Autographs
Shane Reynolds was born on March 26, 1968, in Bastrop, Louisiana. He was a standout baseball player at the University of Texas where he played from 1987 to 1989. He was a three-time All-American and won the Dick Howser Trophy as the top player in college baseball in 1989. In 1989, he was selected by the Houston Astros in the second round of the MLB draft and began his professional career in the minor leagues.
Reynolds made his major league debut with the Astros in 1992 and went on to spend ten seasons with the team. He quickly established himself as one of the most reliable starters in the league, winning at least 11 games in a season for eight straight years from 1993 to 2000. Reynolds’ best season came in 1998 when he went 19-8 with a 3.51 ERA and finished fourth in the National League Cy Young Award voting. He helped lead the Astros to postseason appearances in 1997, 1998 and 1999.
After leaving the Astros in 2002, Reynolds played for the Atlanta Braves and Arizona Diamondbacks before retiring after the 2004 season. For his 13-year career, Reynolds posted a record of 114-96 with a 4.09 ERA and 1,284 strikeouts. He was known for his durability and consistency, as he averaged over 200 innings pitched per season during his prime. In addition to his success on the field, Reynolds was well-respected off the field as a class act and an outstanding teammate.
