Sid Gordon Autograph

Sid Gordon was an American professional baseball player born on August 13th, 1917, in Brooklyn, New York. He started his career with the New York Giants in 1941 and played with them until 1946. Gordon was a formidable player with a strong batting average and good fielding ability. He was also known for his quick reflexes and solid defensive maneuvers. After his time with the Giants, Gordon went on to play with the Boston Braves and then the Pittsburgh Pirates before retiring in 1955. More about Sid Gordon

Gordon's baseball career was marked by impressive statistics and numerous achievements. During his time with the Giants, he was considered one of the best third basemen in the National League. In 1944, Gordon led the league with 17 home runs and 76 runs batted in. He also played in the All-Star game in 1944 and 1949. Gordon continued his success with the Boston Braves, helping them win the National League pennant in 1948. He finished his career with a .283 batting average, 202 home runs, and 805 runs batted in.

In addition to his baseball career, Gordon was also known for his service in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He enlisted in 1942 and served as a gunner in the Pacific Theater. After his retirement from baseball, Gordon opened a liquor store in the Bronx and became involved in local politics.
