Stan Rojek Autographs
Stan Rojek was an American professional baseball player who was born in the city of Passaic, New Jersey, on June 28, 1921. Rojek had an exceptional career as a middle infielder in the Major League Baseball (MLB) during the post-World War II era. Despite being undrafted, Rojek signed with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1940, where he eventually became a regular second baseman.
Rojek's baseball career spanned from 1942-1952, and he played for teams including the Brooklyn Dodgers, St. Louis Browns, and Pittsburgh Pirates. During his time with the Dodgers, Rojek helped the team win two National League pennants. Although he was not known for his overwhelming offensive prowess, his defensive work was considered invaluable to his teams throughout his career. He was widely regarded as one of the best shortstops/second baseman in his time, and his fielding percentage of .967 ranks among the best in MLB history.
Relying on quick reflexes, keen instincts and a quick release, Rojek was an excellent defensive player who contributed to his team by enabling potential runners to be retired, preventing hits, and converting double plays. His four seasons with over 100 games played, tallying a .263 batting average, 348 base hits, and 36 stolen bases, solidified his reputation as a dependable, versatile, and reliable infielder whose defensive capabilities were crucial to the success of any team on which he played. The baseball star passed away on March 29, 1997, leaving behind a legacy as a talented major league player, who was celebrated for his performance and unwavering commitment to the game.
