Steve Busby is a former Major League Baseball pitcher who was born on September 29, 1949, in California. He attended the University of Southern California where he played collegiate baseball and helped the Trojans win two College World Series championships in 1968 and 1970. Busby started his professional baseball career in 1972 with the Kansas City Royals. In his rookie season, he impressed everyone by winning 16 games and pitched 11 complete games. He was named the American League Rookie of the Year and helped the Royals reach the playoffs for the first time in franchise history. Busby continued to dominate on the mound and represented the Royals in two All-Star Games in 1974 and 1975.
