Cishek's professional career began in 2007 when he was drafted by the Florida Marlins in the fifth round. He played in the minor leagues for five years with the Marlins before being called up to the majors in 2010. Cishek made his MLB debut on September 20, 2010, against the Milwaukee Brewers, where he struck out three batters in two innings. Cishek remained with the Marlins until 2015, during which he earned 94 saves and an ERA of 2.66.
