Steve Dunning Autographs
Steve Dunning is a former Major League Baseball pitcher who played for the Cleveland Indians, Texas Rangers, and Seattle Mariners between 1970 and 1977. He was born on May 15, 1949, in Granada Hills, California, and attended Granada Hills High School and Stanford University. Dunning was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the first round of the 1968 Major League Baseball draft, and by 1970, he was called up to the majors.
Dunning had a solid rookie year in 1970, posting a 10-9 record and a 2.97 ERA in 158.2 innings pitched. He finished third in the American League Rookie of the Year voting behind Thurman Munson and Mike Cuellar. Over the next few seasons, Dunning was plagued by injuries that limited his playing time and effectiveness. However, he bounced back in 1975, going 13-9 with a 3.18 ERA in 27 starts for the Texas Rangers.
Dunning retired from baseball in 1977 with a career record of 42-50, a 3.70 ERA, and 423 strikeouts in 886.1 innings pitched. After his playing days were over, he worked as a minor league coach and instructor for the Seattle Mariners organization for several years. In recent years, Dunning has made occasional appearances at autograph signings and other baseball-related events. Despite his relatively short career, he remains a beloved figure among fans of the teams he played for.
