Steve Olin was a professional baseball pitcher who was born on October 4, 1965, in Portland, Oregon. He played for the Cleveland Indians from 1989 to 1992, and he quickly became one of the team's most promising young players. During his first year with the Indians, Olin pitched in 61 games and earned a 10-5 record with a 2.34 ERA. He was named to the American League All-Star team in 1991, and he continued to put up impressive numbers in the years that followed. In 1992, Olin played in 49 games, had a 2.34 ERA, and struck out 70 batters.

Unfortunately, tragedy struck on March 22, 1993. Olin was killed in a boating accident along with his teammate, Tim Crews. The Cleveland Indians community, as well as the baseball world, were devastated by the loss of Olin.
