Tex Carleton Autographs
Tex Carleton was an American professional baseball player born on August 19, 1906, in Comanche, Texas. He started his baseball career with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1932 and played for several teams before retiring in 1940. Carleton was a right-handed pitcher and had a considerable velocity in his fastball, which made him a feared pitcher during his time.
During his baseball career, Carleton played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Cubs, Brooklyn Dodgers, and Cincinnati Reds. He had a record of 100 wins and 76 losses, and he made 651 strikeouts in his career. One of his notable achievements was in his rookie year; he pitched a no-hitter while playing for the Cardinals against the Brooklyn Dodgers, which made him the first major league pitcher in 12 years to have a no-hitter in his debut season. Carleton was part of the Cubs team that went to the 1938 world series, although they lost to the New York Yankees.
In addition to his career, Carleton also had a reputation for being a prankster and an outgoing person. He was known to entertain his teammates with his antics and stories. However, his love for his mother never wavered, and he dedicated his signature "TC" on the baseball to her. Carleton retired from baseball at the age of 33 and spent the rest of his life in Texas, where he passed away on January 11, 1976, at the age of 69.
