Tim Crews Autographs
Tim Crews had a distinguished and promising career in baseball that was tragically cut short when he died in a boating accident in 1993 at the age of 31. He was born on April 3, 1962, in Tampa, Florida, and played college baseball at the University of Florida. In 1983, he was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the second round and began his professional baseball career with the Dodgers' Rookie League affiliate in Great Falls, Montana.
Crews quickly rose through the ranks of the Dodgers' organization, pitching in Double-A ball in 1984 and Triple-A ball in 1985. He made his major league debut in August 1987 and quickly established himself as a reliable and effective relief pitcher. Over the next several years, Crews became a key member of the Dodgers' bullpen, pitching in 138 games for the team and posting a 22-8 record with a 3.16 ERA.
Despite his success on the field, Crews will always be remembered for the tragic way in which his life ended. On March 22, 1993, he and teammate Steve Olin were killed in a boating accident off the shore of Spring Training Facility in Winter Haven, Florida. Crews left behind a wife and three children, as well as an impressive legacy as a talented and successful professional baseball player.
