Tim Federowicz is a professional baseball player who was born on August 5, 1987, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he played baseball for the Tar Heels. Federowicz was a standout player on the team and was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the seventh round of the 2008 Major League Baseball draft.
Federowicz made his Major League debut with the Dodgers on September 11, 2011, after being traded from the Red Sox organization in a three-player trade that included Trayvon Robinson and Chih-Hsien Chiang. He played for the Dodgers for three seasons, serving as a backup catcher for the team. During his time with the Dodgers, Federowicz hit .194 with four home runs and 16 RBI.
After his time with the Dodgers, Federowicz played for the Chicago Cubs, San Francisco Giants, and Houston Astros organizations. In 2019, Federowicz signed a minor league contract with the Texas Rangers, making it his eighth Major League organization. Federowicz has made his mark as a reliable backup catcher, with a career batting average of .195 and 11 home runs in 212 games played.
