Tom Glavin Autographs
Tom Glavine is a former American professional baseball player who became one of the best left-handed pitchers in Major League Baseball (MLB) history. He was born on March 25, 1966, in Concord, Massachusetts. Glavine started his baseball career in high school and college, where he played for some major teams. In 1984, he was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the second round of the MLB draft.
Glavine spent 17 seasons with the Atlanta Braves, where he became one of the franchise's best pitchers. He won two National League Cy Young Awards in 1991 and 1998, and led the Braves to five World Series appearances, including a championship win in 1995. Glavine also made ten All-Star teams, won four Silver Slugger Awards, and was known for his excellent control and precision on the mound. In 2003, he signed with the New York Mets, where he spent the final five years of his career before officially retiring in 2009 with a record of 305 wins and 203 losses.
In recognition of his accomplishments, Glavine was inducted into the Atlanta Braves Hall of Fame in 2010 and the MLB Hall of Fame in 2014. In his Hall of Fame induction speech, Glavine said, "To me, baseball is about three things: family, friends, and memories." He also mentioned that he was thankful to the many coaches, teammates, and fans who supported him throughout his career. Today, Glavine is remembered as one of the best pitchers in baseball history and a shining example of sportsmanship and dedication on and off the field.
