Tom Grieve Autographs
Tom Grieve became well known in the baseball world in the 1960s and 1970s as a talented outfielder. He was born on March 4, 1948, in Wisconsin and attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he played for the school's baseball team. In 1966, the Washington Senators signed him, and he began playing in their minor league system.
In 1970, Grieve made his debut in the Major Leagues with the Washington Senators, and his first year in the big leagues was impressive. He hit 10 home runs and had 42 runs batted in, and he was named as the American League's Rookie of the Year. Grieve continued to play with the Senators until 1975, when he was traded to the New York Mets. He played for a few more teams before retiring from baseball in 1979.
Following his playing career, Grieve went on to become one of baseball's most respected broadcasters, where he worked for a variety of different teams, including the Texas Rangers, Milwaukee Brewers, and ESPN. He also served as the Rangers' general manager for several years, during which time he was considered a key figure in shaping the team's success. Despite his post-playing career successes, Tom Grieve is best known for his achievements on the field, particularly his Rookie of the Year season with the Washington Senators.
