Tom Nieto is a retired American professional baseball catcher and coach, who was born on October 27, 1960, in Downey, California. He started his career as a catcher in the Major League Baseball (MLB) in 1984, playing with the St. Louis Cardinals. Nieto’s best season was in 1985 with the Expos, where he played in 110 games and recorded a .262 batting average. He was also known for his excellent defensive abilities, throwing out 32% of attempted base stealers in his career. Nieto became a coach following the end of his playing career and served as a catching coach for the Boston Red Sox, Florida Marlins, and New York Mets.

Throughout his career, Nieto had a reputation for being a great asset for young catchers. He often shared his passion and knowledge for the sport in order to assist other professional athletes during their careers.
