Davis' best season came in 1962 when he played for the Dodgers and won the National League batting title with a .346 batting average. He was also named an All-Star that year and finished second in the National League MVP voting. Davis continued to play at a high level throughout the 1960s, leading the league in hits twice and finishing in the top ten in batting average five times. He was known for his ability to hit for both power and average, as well as his speed on the basepaths.

Despite suffering a serious leg injury in 1965 that many thought would end his career, Davis continued to play for another decade. He retired in 1976 with a career batting average of .294 and 153 home runs. After his playing career ended, he worked as a coach and manager in various minor league organizations. Tommy Davis is remembered as one of the most talented and consistent players of his era, and his contributions to the game of baseball are still celebrated today.
