Tony WatsonTony Watson is an American baseball player who was born on May 30, 1985, in Sioux City, Iowa. He graduated from Dallas Center-Grimes High School in Iowa, where he played baseball and basketball. Watson's baseball career began at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he was a standout pitcher for four years, earning All-Big 12 honors twice.
After being drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the ninth round of the 2007 MLB Draft, Watson quickly worked his way up the minor league ranks. He made his Major League debut with the Pirates in 2011 and became a reliable left-handed relief pitcher for the team. Watson played for the Pirates for six years, posting a career ERA of 2.68 and earning an All-Star selection in 2014. In 2017, he was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers, where he was an integral part of the team's bullpen during their World Series run. Watson played for the San Francisco Giants from 2018 to 2020, and in 2021 he signed with the Philadelphia Phillies.
Throughout his career, Watson has been known for his reliability and consistency as a relief pitcher. He has a career record of 41 wins, 26 losses, and 37 saves, with an ERA of 2.80.
