Tracy Stallard was an American professional baseball player born on August 31, 1937, in Coeburn, Virginia. Stallard played as a pitcher for several Major League Baseball teams from 1960 until 1966. On October 1, 1961, Stallard was on the pitching mound for the Mets in their last game of the season against the legendary player Roger Maris and the New York Yankees. Maris was just one home run away from breaking Babe Ruth's record of 60 in one season. Stallard pitched carefully to Maris, but in the fourth inning, Maris finally hit the home run, making history.
