Tuffy Rhodes was born on August 21, 1968, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He began his baseball career as an outfielder with the Houston Astros in 1990, but he is best known for his time with the Chicago Cubs. Rhodes had his most memorable game on Opening Day of the 1994 season when he hit three home runs off of New York Mets pitcher, Dwight Gooden. Despite this impressive feat, Rhodes struggled to consistently produce during his time with the Cubs, which led to his being released in 1995. He played for several other Major League Baseball teams in the United States and Japan before retiring in 2009.

Throughout his baseball career, Tuffy Rhodes was known for his strong arm in the outfield and his consistent power hitting. He retired with a .224 batting average and 13 home runs in 632 at-bats in the MLB. Although Rhodes never achieved significant fame or awards, his Opening Day performance will always be remembered as one of the most impressive in baseball history.
