Ty Wigginton Autographs
Ty Wigginton was born on October 11th, 1977, in San Diego, California. He attended Chula Vista High School in San Diego, where he excelled as a baseball and football player. After high school, he attended the University of North Carolina at Asheville, where he continued to play baseball at a high level. In 1998, Wigginton was drafted by the New York Mets in the 17th round of the MLB draft.
Wigginton started his professional career playing in the minor leagues for the Mets. He made his major league debut for the Mets in 2002, playing primarily at third base. In 2003, he was traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates, where he played for two seasons. In 2006, Wigginton was traded again, this time to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. It was with the Devil Rays that Wigginton had his best statistical season in 2007, hitting 24 home runs and driving in 79 runs.
Over his career, Wigginton played for nine different teams over 12 seasons, including the Baltimore Orioles, Colorado Rockies, and Philadelphia Phillies. He was known for his versatility, as he played every position on the field except for pitcher and catcher. Wigginton retired from baseball in 2014, finishing his career with 169 home runs and 705 runs batted in. He was a valuable player for each team he played for, known for his work ethic and team-first mentality.
