Wade Miley is a left-handed pitcher who currently plays for the Cincinnati Reds of the Major League Baseball. Born on November 13, 1986, in Hammond, Louisiana, Miley started playing baseball from a young age. He attended Loranger High School where he played as a pitcher, infielder, and outfielder, leading his team to the Class 2A state title in his senior year.
Miley's baseball career continued in college, where he played for the Southeastern Louisiana Lions of the NCAA Division I. He excelled as a pitcher and was named the Southland Conference Pitcher of the Year in 2008. The Arizona Diamondbacks drafted Miley in the supplemental first round of the 2008 MLB draft, and he made his debut in the Major Leagues in 2011. In his rookie year, Miley had a 4.02 ERA and 16 wins, earning him an invitation to the All-Star game.
Throughout his MLB career, Miley has played for several teams, including the Arizona Diamondbacks, Boston Red Sox, Seattle Mariners, Baltimore Orioles, Milwaukee Brewers, and Cincinnati Reds. He is known for his consistency as a pitcher and his ability to throw strikes consistently. As of 2021, Miley has a 79-81 record and a 4.16 ERA. He has also recorded 926 strikeouts over 1,405 innings pitched in his MLB career.
