Walker Cooper was a professional baseball player who was born on January 8, 1915, in Atherton, Missouri. He was known for his exceptional catching abilities as well as his powerful swinging arm. Walker began his baseball career in 1934 playing in a mining town in West Virginia. He went on to play for several minor league teams before joining the St. Louis Cardinals in 1940. During his nine seasons with the Cardinals, he became known as one of the best catchers in the league.
