In 1967, Comer was picked up by the Seattle Pilots, a team that would later become the Milwaukee Brewers. He quickly established himself as a reliable outfielder, recording a batting average of .277 in his first year in the majors. Over the next few years, he continued to impress with his skillful play and became a fan favorite among Brewers supporters. In his six-year career in the majors, Comer played for the Seattle Pilots/Brewers, Detroit Tigers, and the Atlanta Braves.

After retiring from baseball in 1973, Comer spent many years as a high school baseball coach in Virginia, passing on his passion and knowledge of the game to the next generation of players. He also remained an active member of the baseball community, participating in various events and charity games.
