Wayne Garrett was a former Major League Baseball player born on December 3rd, 1947, in Brooksville, Florida. He spent his entire professional career playing as a third baseman for two teams - the New York Mets (1969-1976) and the Montreal Expos (1977-1978). Garrett was a crucial component of the Mets' 1969 World Series-winning team, providing solid defense at third base as well as a solid bat. During his career as a professional baseball player, Wayne Garrett, was known for his excellent defense, agility and quick reflexes. He was one of the most underrated third basemen in the history of the game. Garrett played 924 games in the Major League, recorded a batting average of .239, hit 62 home runs and racked up 278 runs batted in (RBI). However, his contributions on the field were more than just the numbers on the scoreboard. His leadership skills, great attitude, and unwavering work ethic made him a role model to his teammates and others.

After retiring from his baseball career, Wayne Garrett continued to stay in touch with the game that he loved by becoming a minor league manager, educator and radio analyst. He also served as a member of the coaching staff for the New York Mets and their minor league affiliates. Garrett's exceptional baseball career earned him a well-deserved spot in the Florida Sports Hall of Fame in 1985.
