Cooper would find success with the Pirates, leading the National League in wins twice (1920 and 1924) and helped the team win the 1925 World Series. During his career, he played with four different teams, including the Pittsburgh Pirates, Chicago Cubs, Detroit Tigers and New York Giants. Overall, Cooper won 216 games and had a career ERA of just 2.89. He was known for his control of the ball, which is indicated by his career record of just 514 walks in 3466.1 innings pitched.

Cooper's career spanned between 1910-1927, where he made 1825 strikeouts, pitched two no-hitters in a single year (1916) and three all-time shutouts. In addition, he was a crucial part of the Pirates team that won the World Series in 1925, finishing one of his best seasons with a 22-9 record and a 3.18 ERA. Despite his impressive statistics, Cooper failed to gain recognition on the year-end awards, with his best finish being sixth place in the NL MVP voting in 1920. However, his mark in baseball history will never be forgotten as one of the most consistent and dominant pitchers of his era. Read even more about Wilbur Cooper at Wikipedia
