Willard Nixon was a professional baseball pitcher, who played in the Major League Baseball from 1950 to 1958. He was born in Tifton, Georgia, in 1928, and began his baseball career at the age of 15, when he joined the local team. Nixon's baseball career was marked by some notable achievements. He was a three-time All-Star and won 119 games over his nine-year career. In 1952, Nixon recorded a 16-12 record and a 3.32 ERA, helping the Red Sox to their best season in nearly a decade. He also led the American League in shutouts with 7 in that season, and finished 7th in MVP voting.

Nixon's career came to an end in 1958 due to an injury, but he was able to leave behind a lasting legacy as one of the best pitchers of his era. After retiring from baseball, Nixon returned to his hometown of Tifton and worked as a car dealer.
