Zach Plesac was born on January 21, 1995, in Indiana, USA. Growing up, he showed a keen interest in baseball and played the sport throughout his high school and college years. Plesac attended Ball State University, where he played college baseball for the Ball State Cardinals. In his junior year, he registered an impressive record, going 12-2 with a 2.11 ERA and 104 strikeouts, earning him the honor of the Mid-American Conference Pitcher of the Year award. Plesac was selected by the Cleveland Indians in the 12th round of the 2016 MLB draft. He started his professional career in the minors, playing for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, Lake County Captains, Lynchburg Hillcats, and the Akron RubberDucks before getting called up to the big league. Plesac made his major league debut on May 28, 2019, against the Boston Red Sox, and he registered five shutout innings.
