Zeke Bonura Autograph

Zeke Bonura was born in 1908 in Italian Harlem, New York City. He grew up playing baseball and eventually attended Loyola University in New Orleans. In college, Bonura quickly established himself as one of the best hitters in the country. He led the nation in both batting average (.446) and RBIs (76) during his senior year in 1932. Bonura's success in college landed him a spot on the Chicago White Sox roster in 1934. He quickly made an impact, hitting .303 with 22 home runs and 101 RBIs in his rookie season. Bonura would go on to play for the White Sox, Washington Senators, New York Giants, and Boston Red Sox during his ten-year major league career. He was selected to the All-Star team twice and finished his career with a .307 batting average and 125 home runs.

Bonura's legacy in baseball extends beyond his impressive statistics. He was known for his incredible power and uncanny ability to hit the ball to all fields. His talent and popularity earned him a spot in the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame in 1982.
