Dantley spent most of his career playing for the Utah Jazz and the Detroit Pistons, where he became known as one of the best scorers in the league. He was a six-time NBA All-Star and a two-time scoring champion, averaging over 30 points per game in the 1981-82 and 1983-84 seasons. Dantley’s playing style was characterized by his ability to get to the free-throw line and convert his shots, which earned him the nickname “The People’s Choice.” He was also a tenacious defender and averaged over 1.0 steals per game for his career.

Dantley’s basketball career ended in 1991, but his legacy as one of the greatest scorers in NBA history lives on. He finished with a career scoring average of 24.3 points per game and is ranked 25th on the all-time scoring list. After retiring from playing, Dantley went on to become a coach and worked as an assistant for several teams, including the Denver Nuggets and the New York Knicks.
