Alex English Autographs
Alex English was born in Columbia, South Carolina on January 5, 1954. His outstanding performance in high school basketball earned him a scholarship to the University of South Carolina. He played for the Gamecocks from 1972 to 1976, where he was a two-time All-American and led his team to the NCAA tournament in his junior and senior year.
English was selected by the Milwaukee Bucks in the second round of the 1976 NBA draft. He played small forward for several teams like the Indiana Pacers, Denver Nuggets, and Dallas Mavericks, but it was with the Denver Nuggets that he had his most successful career. English played for the Nuggets from 1980 to 1990, where he earned eight consecutive All-Star selections and led the team to nine consecutive playoff appearances. He finished his career as the all-time leading scorer in Denver Nuggets history and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1997.
English was known for his smooth style of play, earning him the nickname "The Smooth Operator." He was one of the most prolific scorers of his era, having scored more than 2,000 points in eight consecutive seasons. English was also a two-time NBA scoring champion, and in 1983, he led the league in minutes played, field goals made, and free throws made. Alex English’s impact on the game of basketball is undeniable, and his contributions continue to inspire basketball players and fans alike.
